Welcome to Jim Tucker Studio/ ~March 2025 updates

Dear friends, supporters, and patrons,

What a start to the year it has been. 2025 has already built upon the momentum of 2024, bringing continued growth for both my practice and Studio Beechmont. The work set in motion last year has carried forward, keeping me deeply engaged over the past two months. While this has meant less time for communication, I’m excited to reconnect and share what I’ve been working on.

First, welcome to my new website! Soon, this will serve as both a portfolio and an online store and will be the primary way that I share work. I look forward to sharing more details as it comes together.

In the meantime, here’s what I’ve been up to:

One of my main collaborative projects is with artist and poet Michael Thompson, my studio partner. Together, we work under the name Night Kitchen. This year, we had the privilege of curating an assemblage exhibition at Mount St. Joseph University in partnership with the university’s dedicated art department. The show featured an incredible range of work, and we were truly impressed by the creativity and craftsmanship of the artists involved.

Michael and I see exhibitions as an opportunity to create a dialogue, and we contributed a piece inspired by a hike around Bender Mountain, which backs onto Mount St. Joe. Each shape in our work was drawn from natural forms we photographed along the way, translating elements of the landscape into an abstract visual language.

Night Kitchen is also about a month into our inaugural mural program at DePaul Cristo Rey High School in Cincinnati. The school invited us to develop a collaborative mural with students, and after several weeks of research, they have created their own initial designs. We are now refining these ideas into a final composition, and I look forward to sharing progress in the coming weeks.

Collaboration has been a defining theme of my year so far. In February, Cincinnati designer and printmaker Cryptogram (Jon Flannery) invited me to collaborate on a show poster for Mdou Moctar’s performance at The Woodward Theater. It was an honor to contribute to this project, and I still have a few prints available—these will be added to the store soon.

Finally, I’m thrilled to share a new digital design commission from the Community Learning Center Institute for Roberts Academy in Lower Price Hill, Cincinnati. This design will be transformed into a 110-foot-wide mural, welcoming visitors to the school’s new health center, which will open in the near future. Given the scale of the piece, the best way to experience the full design is through a video walkthrough—I’m eager to share more as the project moves into fabrication.

As always, I am deeply grateful for your continued support and interest in my work. More updates to come soon!
