Thank you to everyone who came out and made Cincy Knows Best Festival such a fun closing weekend for my residency at the ArtWorks V2 gallery.
I love meeting people and sharing my art with you. I sincerely appreciate all the support and encouragement I am given from you all.
During the weekend I pushed my automatic painting practice in a new way.
On day 1, I had gallery visitors cover an 8’ X 4’ transparent plastic sheet with tissue paper, creating a stained glass-esque effect.
Playing with the translucent qualities of the tissue paper, on day 2 I interpreted the community’s work by live painting.
You can see the results below, it was an inspirational community project. I love it when my mad-cap ideas work out and now it has me thinking about all the fun ways I can take this process! You can see more photos by clicking on the button below.
In 2021, alongside fellow Cincinnati-based artist Michael Thompson, I was the artist-in-residence for the Cinncinati Art Museum's Rosenthal Education center.
Our installation, 'CAM Re-imagined' asked our visitors to curate their impression of key pieces from the Cincinnati Art Museum collection.
Using magnets, we created a highly interactive exhibition that was enjoyed by some 60,000 visitors in the eight months it was on display.
In my time as an art educator in Oakland, CA, and Phoenix, AZ, I always challenged my young people to take positive risks as creatives and was amazed by the power of collaborating on large-scale pieces of art that made areas of their school feel like their own.
